AUDIENCE: Swift is writing to all of Ireland. Mostly to the wealthy and the poor. He mentions how his plan will benefit both classes and even asks for suggestions if they didn't agree with his ideas. Kind of saying, "If you don't like my idea then why don't you come up with abetter one?"
ReplyDeleteTONE: The tone that Swift was giving out at first sounded sad and sympathetic. Like if he actually cared and wanted to help. But through out it changes into a serious more horrifying essay, not really showing any sympathy at all anymore. Very clear of his plan and ready to get the ball rolling on it.
PATHOS: I felt horrible and disgusted. Even thinking about how someone could come up with a kind of plan like he did was disturbing. The way he talked about his plans though was very good. He wanted to make the reader understand his plans and the reason he was doing it and he did that very well. Overall it made me feel sad on how easily he could come up with such horrifying ideas.

1. Integrating sources in your writing keeps you from plagiarism even when it occurs unwittingly. It gives your writing credibility and acknowledges the source in which you gained your information from. It will also help in outlining your thesis.

Integrating sources into writing is important because it is necessary to give credit where credit is due, and also to substantiate any claims made. When writing a research paper, you must always reference your sources in order to give credibility to your writing. I learned from these chapters and lectures the different ways to incorporate sources into my writing and the different formats required when writing in MLA style. It is important to format papers in the correct way because there is a widely accepted format that people are familiar with, and using this style when writing lends credibility to your writing, as well as making it more understandable.

ReplyDeleteChapters 22 and 23 had a lot of good information. Chapter 22 explains how important it is to give credit to other people's ideas when integrating their writing in your own. It is easy to write using someone else's ideas as well, and the information on plagiarism explains how to keep from that. Chapter 23 explains well how to cite all works you use in your writing, no matter the context in which that source was found. This information is valuable due to the fact that it will assist me in forming a works cited page on any essay I write using sources.

Integrating sources is very important because it supports the ideas and main points of a writer's work. The most valuable information I have learned from chapter 22 and chapter 23 is how to do in-text citations. In-text citations are so valuable because without them, you are plagiarizing.

Integrating sources is so important because it helps the audience understand more and also gives them the opportunity to look for resources in your writing. It is important to integrate sources into your writing because it shows your credibility as a writer. It provides evidence to the piece, and shows that you did your research and you have a quote with a source to prove it. The most valuable information from this lecture was the examples in the book of how to correctly create a citation. I think if you can understand exactly what makes up a citation and what it looks like, then you can cite any piece of work on your own.

Integrating sources is important because it adds credibility to your document. Often you are writing about something that you are not an absolute expert in, and you would not be able to speak effectively without researching and utilizing expert sources. From chapter 22, the most important information is how to structure in-text citations. There are a lot of different scenarios when making a citation and so seeing lots of examples was useful. In chapter 23, the examples of MLA and APA reference page citations was most useful.

The importance of the integration of sources is that it protects the writer from inadvertent (or blatant) forms of plagiarism. It also allows readers to follow up on additional information, if they so chose, that is discussed in the writing. Lastly, it establishes and consolidates the writers credibility.The most valuable information that I took from these chapters is that there are a variety of ways to properly cite a wide array of items presented by an author (images, sound clips, lectures, advertisements). This is valuable to myself because I did not realize the multitude of information that would need to be cited in the first place.

Using citations adds credence to your argument and,if used correctly, can make a third party believe in your point of view that much more. As social creatures we are influenced by the crowd, whether we admit it or not. Adding outside sources to any work makes it seem more credible and thus more easily to agree with.

Hey Peeps, In chapter 22 & 23 was helpful for future knowledge and understanding in how to properly have your original writing. I come to learn and understand the difference in integrating source into wring. Its important because it prevents plagiarism and gives you the credit you deserve and gives the credit to the original writer. stops misunderstanding that your not trying to copy cat some one, your just high lighting your opinion with all intention of sharing where you where inspired. I found chapter 22 &23 very important information on what needs to be cited as you write and understand the connection between in -text citations and the end of paper list of cited works is valuable information for a writer. Its knowledge I didn't know till now, and its great to know this when we go and read for our own information, its great to know where the author got to much inspiration and statistics etc.

Chapter 22 & 23 have good information and it also gives good examples and how to cite people's writing. It show students how to add sources. Paraphrase are acceptable while patchwriting is not. Also, students need to avoid plagiarism.There are 2 differents types of sources (MLA)and (APA). MLA Modern Lengusge Association is used in humanity and (APA) is used in science.Is very important that students add the citations in their writing.People need to give the credit to the author and meanwhile they are giving themselves credit for their work.

Integration sources is important because so that anyone can know where what they're reading came from, prevent someone from plagarising. The most valuable information i got off reading the chapters was how to citate correctly and how to place quotes correctly. Integrating sources are important to show your reader how you came to your conclusions and also to allow the reader to make their own judgements on that conclusion. With that, it also gives the authors that had the original thought credit where it is due. I learned how to use MLA and also how important it is to have knowledge of the article before posting, before writing a draft, and before proof reading. One other thing I learned is that MLA style changes often, so you have to stay up to date with information. I believe that this information is valuable to allow readers to understand who you are as an author and to also see how knowledgeable you are as one.

Integrating sources into your work is crucial, it lets the reader in on a lot of things. attributing the author adds credibility so the readers know you aren't just pulling their leg. Also adding quotes and surrounding the quote with quotation marks let's the reader know the quote came directly from the source ( book ,article, magazine) again letting the reader know you are aware of what you read and that you understand what you read. so much so that you had to add an important quote. the most important thing I took away from the lectures and chapters 22-23 is that it is so easy to have plagiarized something without even knowing it due to a tiny mistake. also, citing sources is a must. For me learning how to use sources and what source is needed is valuable because I want whoever reads my paper to know I knew and understood what was going on. I want my work to be credible.

Like quoting little points or putting brackets in your quotations. Also how to avoid plagiarism. I learned as well what to cite and what not to cite, for example you don't have to cite something that you come up with, but you do have to cite a sentence where you got from a paper, article or even used some of their ideas.
3. I think its valuable because you don't want to run into trouble with plagiarizing the sources you cited wrong. It helps you understand how to avoid plagiarism and how to give the credit that is needed to the people who wrote it in the first place.

Most valuable information I've learned from in Ch.22 & 23 is, the importance of plagiarism and what not to do. Also quoting and citing sources, using quoting and citing sources in different ways, and different purposes.
I think that's valuable because it helps the write organize their thoughts and ideas when writing a paper. It helps make a smooth transition with cites and quotes. Through the writers preparation on a paper/essay.
